The most significant ports in Tunisia are: La Goulette, Bizerte, Sousse, Sfax, Gabes and Zarzis.
La Goulette: located at around 36°49′5″N, 10°18′18″ECoordinates: 36°49′5″N, 10°18′18″E.
La Goulette (Halq al Wadi) is the old port of Tunis. Goletta was of considerable importance for the protection of the city. In 1525 internal dissension gave Barbarossa Khaireddine an excuse to seize the city of Tunis in the name of the Ottoman Sultan; in 1535 Goletta was attacked by Charles V of Spain who seized Barbarossa’s fleet, the arsenal and 300 cannon. The Spanish controlled Tunis and several other points on the coast for about 35 years, until the Ottoman Turks regained control of the country. Goletta’s importance both as port and fortress declined throughout the 19th century, especially from 1893, when a ship canal through the shallow lagoon was opened directly to the city. Today, La Goulette is the main Cruise Gate to Tunisia.
Sousse: Sousse (Arabic سوسة Susa), is a city of Tunisia, located 140 km south of Tunis, at only 20 km from the international airport of Monastir.

ð the Amphitheatre, former essential place of entertainment in the roman city. It is partly destroyed. One can see the excavations.
ð the Antonine Thermal Baths, former bath house where Romans developed a taste for physical cleanliness, healthy sports and cultural improvements. A granite column has been raised again in recent years to a height of 15 meters as evidence of the eight columns necessary to support the massive vaulted roof of the Frigidarium (cold Pool).
ð Mount Byrsa was the Acropolis of punic and roman Carthage. Under French protectorate a large cathedral and a seminary for Carmelite priest were built on the Hill. The Museum contains an impressive collection of archaeological finds from the site.
Continuation to the gigantic Punic Ports.
On to Sidi Bou Said, a splendid Moorish village, perched on its headland and wreathed in flowers, where you can enjoy a unique peppermint tea.
Optional : Visit of Baron d’Erlanger Palace. This Palace is the work of a wealthy and cultured heir who fell in love with Sidi Bou Saïd and decided to build his “dream palace” there. It is today the centre of Arab and Mediterranean music's and a museum of Tunisian musical instruments.

The Bardo Museum, located in one of the Bey of Tunis’ former Palaces, is famous for its impressive and prestigious collections of mosaics, the most important of the world. The prehistoric, Punic, Christian and Moslem periods are represented as well.

Nabeul is renowned for its numerous handicraft specialties : varnished and painted ceramics, rush mats and pieces of embroidery figure among the main products. It is as well a town famous for orange trees and jasmine where flowers are distilled each spring.

Continuation to Hammamet, an old fishing village which has become an important tourist resort. The charm of its Medina surrounded by ramparts, with its white washed houses, has remained intact. Visit of the Spanish Fort and the fishing Harbor.

Kairouan, first Moslem city and for a long time, the Maghreb capital, rises in a steppes landscape.
Its magnificent Medina is a museum-town which harbors important monuments:
ð the Big Mosque or Sidi Okba mosque is one of the most significant mainstays of Islamic architecture. It has for instance one of the oldest existing pulpits (Minbar)
ð the Aghlabides Basins, built by Aghlabide sovereigns to provide the town with water, represent the most important hydraulic installation of the Middle Ages.
ð the Zaouia (mausoleum) of Sidi Sahbi also called the Barber Mosque dates from the XVII century. It includes a Medersa (school for religious studies). Girls offers over there their first handmade carpet.
Lunch in a very special and typical restaurant “La Kasbha”.
Kairouan is also the “carpet making” capital. The Souks will offer you their various shopping amenities.
Drive back to the ship through Enfidhaville.
Drive to Utica, oldest Phoenician trading station in North Africa. It is older than Carthage itself.

Wine tasting in Château Feriani. Wine is an old tradition in Tunisia dating from the Carthage era and carried on by the wine growers from Italy.
Continuation to Bizerta, melting-pot of various influences such as roman, Spanish and Turkish.

Drive to National Park Ichkeul. Birdwatchers will simply adore Lake Ichkeul which is the meeting place for numerous birds which come here to enjoy a more clement winter.
